Start Date: Late June – part time for training, July and August – Full time
We are looking for students (high school, college, university) interested in providing our Day Campers with activity filled days that emphasize fun, safety, skill and social development.
You enjoy being around children, being in the great outdoors, doing crafts and promoting physical activity. You have a demonstrated ability to positively interact with children of all ages and needs. In a nutshell, children love being around you!
With a strong focus on providing a fun and safe place for all, children in your care see you as an encourager, a motivator, a coach and a friend.
You have a creative side that enables you to develop and implement fun, crafty and physical activities.
Most importantly, you are a fun, kind, energetic, upbeat, hardworking, team player that believes in the YMCA Mission and Values. You receive great satisfaction from helping others.
Reporting to the Supervisor; Youth & Recreation, Senior Camp Leaders are responsible for the on-site supervision and daily operation of the 2022 YMCA Summer Day Camps. Leader responsibilities include daily supervision of children, ensuring their safety and happiness, providing a positive environment; building positive relationships between participants, parents and staff; creating an environment of cooperation and friendliness while ensuring growth and development of participants.
· Must be able to provide, prior to start date, a vaccination certificate issued by the government of the province of Ontario proving full vaccination against COVID-19 or alternatively a valid medical or religious exemption from vaccination.
· Applicants 18 years of age or older: successful candidates are required to provide a current and satisfactory Police Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued no later than 90 days preceding start date
· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
