Job Description:

  Owen Sound Gardens is a new Retirement Residence opening on the east side of Owen Sound.

Owen Sound Gardens is in the heart of picturesque Owen Sound, in the County of Grey right on Georgian Bay.  Dining Room Server – Owen Sound Gardens

Employment Status: Full time and Part -time


Looking for individuals who are dependable, responsible, and willing to learn, with a pleasant, outgoing personality. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Individuals must be able to follow written and oral instructions in English as well as speak and write in English.  An understanding of food service and preparation with a Food Handlers Certificate is an asset.  Smart Serve will be a requirement. Retirement Home or Hotel experience is also an asset.  

Key Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Dining Services Supervisor, responsible for duties as outlined below:

Serving Meals to residents and guests in the dining room

Plate desserts and salads as necessary

Sets dining room tables and clears the dining room of dishes and utensils during and after meals

Always assist in keeping dining room neat and inviting for residents & guests

Billing residents for alcoholic beverages and guest meals as required

Cleaning dietary equipment and working areas

Understand and adhere to regulations pertaining to Food Handling, Sanitation & Safety

Adhere to Public Health standards

Operation of equipment as required in preparation for service of meals

Effective communication, both written and verbal with co-workers, residents, and guests

Participates in staff meetings and in-service training within the home as required

Complies with infection control protocols as directed

Complies with corporate policies and procedures

Completes TLC online training and all other training as required

Complies with Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System including recognizing health & safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation as well as participating in fire drills and other emergency procedure training.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Dining Services Manager
